Taco surprise!

Before I do another full-length review (there’s talk of going to the infamous Taco Taxi here in Minneapolis on Tuesday!), I’ve got to get this mini one out of the way.

I’ve been ordering in a lot lately.  Or, well, I’ve always ordered in a lot, but recently it’s been a reprehensible amount. Why, you ask? Because cooking in hot weather is terrible, and when it’s not hot the cool weather makes me want to bundle up on my couch and have awesome food brought placed before me on a dinner tray, and fed to me so I don’t have to become un-cozy. Or, it’s because I’m lazy and poor, but refuse to cook meals that consist mostly of Ramen, or put the breaks on eating out of my frivolous eating habits. Sometimes I think that it’s because of the sheer amount of delicious foods I eat that I had to put one of my student loans into deferment. In fact, I’m kind of certain that’s the case. Oh well.

Recently, I ordered in from a restaurant two blocks away called Rudolph’s.  It’s namesake is none other than silent movie actor Rudolph Valentino, and all the cinema themed foods on the menu are named after actors, and movie characters..  Since Rudolph’s is, by it’s strange nature, first and foremost a BBQ joint I usually order the Sarah Connor, which is an awesome BBQ sandwich with coleslaw on it.  The sandwich, aside from being unbelievably delicious also offers me a situation in which I can make jokes about two of my favorite things in tandem: time travel and food.

However, as I sat in the comfort of my own home perusing their menu online I realized that another food item needed my attention:

Please note that I did not get both the Sarah Connor AND the Jaws Tacos, although that would have been a very special night for me. I was accompanied at my special couch dinner by a special gentleman friend, who was not at all disgusted by my, frankly, disgusting eating habits.

For a last minute decision, these tacos were surprisingly delicious.  I’d say that being in the midwest, these fish tacos were freakishly good. The fish was battered and fried, but not crunchy, and the tacos were just slathered in Rudolph’s superawesomenumberone coleslaw.

Man, that was a good night, and the price was right, AND I didn’t have to cook anything/travel somewhere that I couldn’t see my apartment building from the entrance. Perfect for the lazy, Whittier neighborhood dweller. Of course, you could always have a sit-down meal at Rudolph’s if you’re not a homebody.

Because this is a mini-review I’m not going to get all up in the video game side of things, but I can tell you that my next review will be all about firsts: My first trip to Taco Taxi, and my first ever superhero video game played of my own volition, Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions.

Actually, before I sign off I want to ask any readers who were at one time PS2 players and have become Xbox and PS3 players: How does Kingdom Hearts stand up in the face of all these new and exciting visual technologies? I always wanted to play it, but never did, and my PS3 is not backward compatible.  I had such a terrible experience trying to play Oblivion after playing Fallout 3, and those were for the same system.  Even going back to play Silent Hill 2 is so strange, and dissatisfying visually after playing something like Alan Wake, and SH2 is one of my favorite games of all time. Is the story in Kingdom Hearts good enough to make me forget that the future is now? Also, has anyone else seen this:
