Before relocating to Ohio, Billy from Bad Spanish Tacos had several pop ups in DFW showcasing his myriad of taco fillings and toppings. At this particular one, three of the four offerings were new to me: vegan picadillo, nopalitos, and chicken with rice.
The chicken and rice taco was well-executed: tender rice, steamy chicken, lots of flavor without too much spice.
Never one to serve substandard fare, the two vegan options made clever use of apple for texture and a bright pop of tart sweetness. The smoky and tangy cactus and the meaty texture of the crumble from the vegan picadillo both stood out as shining examples of veggie-centric dining.
Even without their former resident taco slinger, Turning Point Beer is worth a look for their wide selection and simple, modern rustic vibe.
