For lunch today I stopped at Cinco de Mayo Tacos in Culver City, a 24/7 restaurant with a walk-up window as well as interior seating. The menu is pretty vast, but I went with my two standby taco options: pastor and asada.
The pastor was flavorful in a different way from most of what I’ve had; the spices were melded together and a bit hard to make out, but the caramelization of the meat added complexity and sweetness. The tomato salsa added a potent savory element as well.
The asada was pretty standard fare, if a little dry. Luckily the sauces were potent and watery in a way that offset the dryness and brought the flavor into the meat.
