I’m back in the greater Los Angeles area for a little getaway, and after catching up on my posting backlog, I’m back making new log entries one bite at a time.

Today I met up with my friend Tom at Lanea, a place that made a good impression on my last visit. This was also Tom’s first experience at Lanea and with Birria tacos and consommé/soup for dipping.

These tacos did not disappoint. The tender, generous portions of beef were rich and savory, and the fresh corn tortillas held together well without being tough or toothy. The onions, cilantro, and lime added some welcome brightness, but for a real contest we opted for margaritas — a tasty decision. Definitely worth a stop if in the area.
